"How Long Do I Need to Stay in Fethiye for Dental Treatment?"

One of the first questions we get from patients travelling from the UK, Ireland and Scotland is a very practical one: how long do I actually need to be here?
It's a fair question. You have work, family, and a life back home. The last thing you want is to book flights without knowing what you're committing to. So let me give you an honest, straightforward answer based on what we see every day at Fethiye Smile Dental Clinic.
Dental Implants — Two Trips Required
Dental implants are not a same-week procedure — and any clinic that tells you otherwise is cutting corners. The implant itself needs time to fuse with the jawbone before the final crown can be placed. This process, called osseointegration, cannot be rushed.
At our clinic, we ask implant patients to plan for two separate visits, with a minimum of two to three months between them. Here's how it typically works:
On your first visit, we place the implant into the jawbone. We recommend staying in Fethiye for around seven to ten days. This gives us time for your initial consultation, any preparatory work if needed, the implant placement itself, and a follow-up appointment before you fly home. Most patients feel comfortable enough to enjoy Fethiye during this time — a walk along the harbour, fresh seafood, a boat trip. Recovery is very manageable for the majority of people.
You then return home and allow the implant to heal properly. After a minimum of two to three months, you come back for your second visit — again, seven to ten days — where we fit the final crown and make sure everything looks and feels exactly right.
Yes, it means two trips. But patients consistently tell us that even with flights and accommodation for both visits, they are still saving significantly compared to implant costs back home.
Smile Design — One Trip is Enough
If you're coming for a smile design — whether that's laminate veneers, zirconia crowns, or a combination of both — one visit is all you need. Seven to ten days in Fethiye is enough time to complete the entire process from start to finish.
During that time, Dr. Ali Oğuzhan Dağ will carry out a full assessment, discuss the digital smile design with you so you can see your result before treatment begins, prepare your teeth, fit temporary restorations, and then place your final veneers or crowns once the lab work is complete. You fly home with your new smile.
Many of our UK and Irish patients combine their smile design with a holiday. Fethiye in the summer is one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean, and the recovery time between appointments gives you plenty of opportunity to explore.
A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Travel
Regardless of your treatment, we always recommend getting in touch before you book your flights. Send us your X-rays or photos via WhatsApp and we'll give you an honest assessment of your situation, an accurate treatment plan, and a clear timeline. That way, you arrive knowing exactly what to expect — no surprises.
We also recommend avoiding very long-haul flights immediately after implant placement. Short-haul flights from the UK and Ireland are generally fine, but we'll always advise you individually based on your specific procedure.
If you have questions about your trip or your treatment, we're always available on WhatsApp. We'd rather answer a hundred questions before you arrive than have you feel uncertain about anything.
